Summary: iDoCatering cooks every dish using 100% halal-certified ingredients; our halal certification is in progress. Supplier documentation can be confirmed on request for your venue or HR team. Christmas buffets run from RM 39.90 per guest for 80 guests, or RM 69.90 and RM 109.90 from 50 guests, delivered and cleared.
Most HR and admin teams in the Klang Valley are not asking whether a caterer says its food is halal. They are being asked internally — by a manager, a building, or a colleague who has to take the answer on trust — to show why it holds. This guide covers what certification actually certifies, the paperwork you can ask any caterer for, how to handle a team that does not all eat the same things, and how a December menu and headcount are sized for an office.
Is office Christmas catering in KL halal?
Yes. iDoCatering cooks every dish using 100% halal-certified ingredients, and our halal certification is in progress. Supplier documentation can be confirmed on request for your venue or HR team. Festive buffets run from RM 39.90 per guest across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, delivered, set up and cleared away.
That is a deliberately narrow claim, and the next section explains why the distinction behind it matters more to your procurement file than a logo on a quotation.
What does JAKIM halal certification actually cover?
JAKIM, Malaysia's Department of Islamic Development, certifies premises and operators rather than individual dishes, as do the state Islamic religious authorities. That is why a caterer's certificate and its ingredient sourcing are two separate questions. iDoCatering's halal certification is in progress; every dish is cooked with 100% halal-certified ingredients, and supplier documentation can be confirmed on request.
The practical consequence for an HR team is that "are you halal?" is the wrong question to put in an email. It invites a one-word answer that cannot be filed. Ask instead at what level the assurance sits, and what document comes with it.
What HR can ask any caterer for
Put these in writing to whoever you shortlist:
- Which certificate, and at what level — the operator's own premises certificate, or certification held by the ingredient suppliers. These are not interchangeable.
- The certificate number and expiry date, so it can be checked against the issuing authority's register rather than taken on trust.
- Whether the certificate covers the kitchen the food is actually cooked in — not a parent company, a franchise holder, or a different outlet.
- Whether any part of the menu is outsourced to another kitchen, and what documentation covers that portion.
- What they can put on file for your building or procurement team, and how many working days it takes to produce.
A caterer that cannot answer the second and fourth questions quickly is one whose assurance you will struggle to defend if anyone asks.
What iDoCatering can provide on request
Supplier documentation for the ingredients used on your menu, confirmed for your venue or HR team. Our halal certification is in progress, so we do not hold a premises certificate to send you today — and we would rather tell you that before you hold a date than after. If your organisation has a specific format or a vendor-onboarding form, raise it when you enquire and we will confirm what we are able to provide.
What goes on a halal Christmas menu?
A festive spread built on roasts, grilled and braised mains, seafood, warm sides, salads and a dessert board, all cooked with 100% halal-certified ingredients. iDoCatering's Christmas buffets run 10 to 21 food courses plus a beverage, from RM 39.90 per guest for 80 guests, or RM 69.90 and RM 109.90 per guest from 50 guests.
The buffets — 10, 18 and 21 courses
| Package | Courses | Rate | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christmas Epic Buffet | 10 food courses plus a beverage | RM 39.90 per guest | 80 guests |
| Christmas Deluxe Buffet | 18 food courses plus a beverage | RM 69.90 per guest | 50 guests |
| Christmas Ultimate Buffet | 21 food courses plus a beverage | RM 109.90 per guest | 50 guests |
All rates exclude delivery and 6% SST. Buffets are set up on site and cleared away afterwards, so nobody from your team is stacking trays at the end of the night.
The delivered party sets — 11 and 13 courses
For teams below the buffet minimum, the Christmas Epic Party Set is RM 799.00 and the Christmas Treasure Party Set is RM 1,099.00, each serving 12 to 15 guests with 11 and 13 courses respectively. Both arrive ready to serve with disposable tableware, which means no setup crew in the office and no washing up.
How do you cater for a mixed-diet team at a Christmas party?
Declare the counts at enquiry stage rather than on the day. Vegetarian options can be planned into either Christmas party set — tell us how many vegetarian guests when you enquire. For guests who do not eat beef, or anyone with an allergy, give us the numbers alongside your headcount and we will confirm what the menu can carry.
This is the step most offices leave too late. A headcount of 60 with "a few vegetarians" is not a brief; 60 with four vegetarian guests, two who do not eat beef and one nut allergy is.
Declaring vegetarian and dietary counts at enquiry
Vegetarian provision on the Christmas range is planned per order rather than published as a fixed dish, so the number has to reach us before the menu is confirmed. Send three figures with your enquiry:
- Total headcount, and whether it is firm or still moving.
- Vegetarian guests, as a number rather than a proportion.
- Any other dietary counts — guests who do not eat beef, and anyone with an allergy or intolerance.
We will come back on what the menu can carry for those counts before you commit. If your team is still collecting responses, send the current numbers and the date they firm up; it is easier to adjust a planned menu than to add to a confirmed one.
What to ask about allergies and handling
Allergy handling is a question to put to any caterer directly, and the answers are worth having in writing:
- How is the dish containing the allergen kept separate during preparation, transport and service?
- Will the buffet be labelled, and who writes the labels?
- What happens at a self-service buffet, where guests use shared serving utensils?
- Is there a point of contact on the day if a guest asks what is in something?
For a severe allergy, a labelled plated portion held back from the buffet is more reliable than any assurance about a shared spread. Tell us when you enquire and we will confirm what is workable for your setup.
How much food do you need for your headcount?
Below 50 guests, no Christmas product is priced per guest — the party sets are flat-priced by the set, and that is usually cheaper than trying to force a buffet minimum. Use this to size the order:
| Headcount | Format that fits | What to order | Indicative cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Around 10 | Delivered party set | One Epic Party Set, serving 12 to 15 | RM 799.00 per set |
| Around 20 | Delivered party sets | Two sets — two Epic, or one Epic plus one Treasure | RM 1,598.00 or RM 1,898.00 |
| 50 and above | Buffet, set up on site | Deluxe or Ultimate Buffet | RM 69.90 or RM 109.90 per guest |
| 80 and above | Buffet, set up on site | Epic Buffet, which unlocks the lowest rate | RM 39.90 per guest |
A set serving 12 to 15 covers a team of 10 comfortably, which is why the first two rows land on whole sets rather than part ones. If a small team wants a spread without the festive menu, the mini buffet party box is the non-seasonal alternative. How is the food prepared and delivered to an office?
Every dish is prepared in one kitchen and nothing is outsourced to a third-party caterer — which is what keeps the ingredient documentation consistent across your whole menu rather than split across suppliers you did not choose. Buffets are delivered, set up and cleared away; party sets arrive ready to serve.
Delivery is charged separately from the per-guest rate:
- RM 30.00 — Petaling Jaya
- RM 60.00 — KL city centre, Shah Alam, Subang, USJ, Sunway, Kelana Jaya, Puchong, Cheras, Kepong, Ampang, Sungai Buloh
- RM 100.00 — Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, Klang, Semenyih
- RM 300.00 — a high-rise with no service lift
That last line catches more Klang Valley offices than people expect, so confirm lift access before you compare quotations.
What should HR confirm before booking?
Four things, all easier to settle before a quotation than after:
- The sourcing claim and what documentation comes with it. Every dish is cooked with 100% halal-certified ingredients, and supplier documentation can be confirmed on request. Ask at enquiry stage if your building needs it on file.
- Whether your venue has its own halal policy. Hotels, serviced offices and some corporate buildings restrict outside food or require their own paperwork. The venue's rule, not the caterer's position, is usually the binding one.
- Building access — loading bay, service lift, and the window the building allows for delivery and clearing.
- The three-day minimum lead time for Christmas orders, and that quoted rates exclude delivery and 6% SST.

What does a December date cost?
The standard rates above apply to most December dates. Malaysian public holidays and holiday eves carry a 20% surcharge on the food menu and double manpower charges. In 2026, Christmas Eve falls on Thursday 24 December and Christmas Day on Friday 25 December, so the same menu a week earlier costs materially less — which is worth raising with whoever picks the date.
Payment terms: orders below RM 2,500 are paid in full on confirmation. Above RM 2,500, a 70% deposit is payable 30 days before the event with the balance due 7 days before. Full pricing mechanics are in Christmas buffet catering prices in Malaysia.
Does iDoCatering have a halal certificate?
Our halal certification is in progress. Every dish is prepared using 100% halal-certified ingredients, and we can provide supplier documentation for your venue or HR team on request. If your organisation requires a premises certificate specifically, tell us when you enquire so we can confirm what we are able to provide before you hold a date.
What is the minimum number of guests for a Christmas buffet?
Fifty guests for the Christmas Deluxe and Ultimate buffets, and 80 guests for the Christmas Epic Buffet at RM 39.90 per guest. Below 50 guests, the Christmas party sets at RM 799.00 and RM 1,099.00 each serve 12 to 15 people and are the better-value route for a small office.
Is delivery and setup included in the per-guest price?
Setup and clearing are included for buffets; delivery is charged separately and starts at RM 30.00 to Petaling Jaya and RM 60.00 to KL city centre. All rates exclude 6% SST. Party sets arrive ready to serve with disposable tableware and need no setup crew on site.
What happens if we need to cancel?
Cancelling 14 or more days before the event is a full refund, and between 13 and 8 days before is a 50% refund. Inside 7 days there is no refund. Christmas dates fill early, so confirm your headcount against the cancellation window before you place the order.
